Cahoon Nursery was established in 1948 by Dr. and Mrs. Schwartz, who had an avid interest in plants and gardening. The nursery at that point was considered to be a small production nursery. In 1959 Dominic Jannazo bought the nursery from the Schwartz’s.
Mr. Jannazo continued operating Cahoon Nursery as a production nursery. In 1970 the state of Ohio acquired 2/3 of the nursery’s acreage for the construction of I-90. Because of the reduction of space, the nursery at that time shifted its focus from production to retail sales and became a garden center.
In 1986 Richard Bartsche “aka: Most Interesting Man in Westlake” purchased Cahoon Nursery from Mr. Jannazo, and operated the nursery as the area’s premier “Gardener’s Garden Center,” with emphasis on customer service and plant selection.
On March 1st, 2011 Brian Corrigan and Pat Kelly became the new owners of Cahoon Nursery & Garden Center. Cahoon Nursery continues it’s mission to provide its customers with the largest selection of plant material in the region. Moreover, Cahoon Nursery remains committed to maintaining knowledgeable personnel to provide excellent customer service to our gardening clientele.
