Chinese wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) – 3 gallon 36″ TREE

Few flowering vines stop people in their tracks the way Chinese Wisteria does. Every May, it erupts in long, cascading clusters of fragrant blue-violet blooms that drape dramatically over pergolas, arbors, and fences in one breathtaking flush. Over the years, the vine develops thick, twisted stems that become a stunning architectural feature in their own right. It’s a long-term investment — established plants can take several years to reach peak flowering — but the payoff is extraordinary. Best suited to large, sturdy structures with plenty of space to grow. Please note: Chinese wisteria is considered invasive in many eastern and midwestern states, where it can escape gardens and crowd out native plants. Always check local regulations before planting, site it responsibly, and prune regularly to keep it in check.
