If you’ve always wanted to grow fresh figs but thought your climate was too cold, Ficus carica ‘Olympian’ is here to change that. This hardy fig tree thrives in USDA Zones 6–9 and can withstand temperatures down to 0°F when established. Perfect for backyard orchards, edible landscapes, or patio containers, ‘Olympian’ combines resilience with outstanding fruit quality.
In summer, it produces exceptionally large, violet-skinned figs—sometimes up to a pound each!—with rich, strawberry-red flesh that’s delightfully sweet and juicy. Fruits begin ripening in midsummer, with the potential for a second harvest in fall. The bold, lobed foliage adds ornamental interest, making it both beautiful and productive.
Easy to grow, ‘Olympian’ prefers full sun and well-drained soil, with moderate water needs. It can be kept compact with pruning, making it just as suitable for a patio container as it is for an in-ground planting. Whether you enjoy them fresh, dried, or in jams, the figs you harvest will be far superior to store-bought.
