The Full Speed A Hedge® American Pillar Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis ‘American Pillar’) is an impressive evergreen tree known for its rapid growth and slender, columnar form. As a member of the Cupressaceae family, this native North American species is perfect for creating dense, natural privacy screens or windbreaks in your garden, reaching heights of 25 to 30 feet while maintaining a narrow width of just 3 to 4 feet.
This arborvitae is easy to care for, thriving in full sun to partial shade and adapting well to various soil types, including clay and sandy soils. Once established, it requires only moderate watering and is hardy in USDA zones 3 through 8, making it suitable for a wide range of climates. Its resilience against cold weather ensures that your landscape remains lush and green throughout the winter months.
The American Pillar Arborvitae is not only a practical choice for privacy and wind protection but also a beautiful addition to any landscape with its rich green foliage. Its fast growth rate provides a quick solution to screening needs, while its narrow profile makes it ideal for smaller spaces where width is a concern.
Incorporating this tree into your landscape not only enhances your home’s aesthetic appeal but also supports local biodiversity as a native species. With its minimal maintenance requirements and strong growth performance, the American Pillar is a reliable and attractive choice for both novice and experienced gardeners looking to solve common landscape challenges efficiently.
