The Sprinter® Boxwood (Buxus microphylla ‘Bulthouse’) is a fast-growing evergreen shrub that offers both beauty and practicality for home gardeners. Originating from the regions of Japan and Taiwan, this boxwood is prized for its ability to maintain a vibrant, deep green color throughout the year. It boasts a compact, rounded form, typically reaching 2-4 feet in height and width, making it perfect for creating neat hedges or as a standalone feature in your garden. The Sprinter® Boxwood thrives in partial to full sun and requires well-drained soil, with moderate watering to keep it healthy. It is hardy across USDA zones 5 to 9, capable of withstanding temperatures as low as -10°F, which means it can flourish in a variety of climates. This low-maintenance plant requires minimal pruning, making it an excellent choice for those who desire an attractive landscape with little effort. Its dense foliage not only adds visual appeal but also provides a natural barrier for privacy and wind protection. Whether used to frame a garden path or as a lush backdrop for colorful blooms, the Sprinter® Boxwood is a versatile addition to any home garden. Historically, boxwoods have been a staple in formal garden designs, admired for their ability to be shaped into intricate topiaries, adding a touch of classic elegance to modern landscapes.
